About APRI
Objectives
APRI is an independent, not-for-profit organisation which has the following objectives-
- To facilitate and promote research on Asia/Pacific issues particularly in the fields of business, law, economics, politics, international relations, public affairs and associated disciplines.
- To provide a forum, independent from existing institutions, for those with a scholarly interest in the Asia/Pacific to conduct research, discuss issues and exchange ideas.
- To provide a bridge between:
- Academics in various New Zealand educational institutions (universities, polytechnics and schools)
- The NZ educational sector and other parts of the community, such as the legal profession, government ministries and enterprises
- New Zealanders and foreign counterparts
- Bring together teams to seek funding in order to conduct research projects
Functions
In order to fulfil its objectives the institute will-
- Maintain a website giving information on the activities of APRI and other relevant information such as notices regarding conferences, new books, websites, jobs, etc.
- Promote linkages with research institutes, relevant university centres and departments, and funding agencies in New Zealand and abroad.
- Publish research in various media (hardcopy, electronic) either alone or in conjunction with other organisations.
