Professor Salim Said is a respected
political commentator and regarded as one of the most
authoritative political analysts in Indonesia.
Throughout his career, Professor Said has
held a variety of positions, including being a member of
the Indonesia's Upper House of Parliament; a foreign
correspondent and film critic for TEMPO weekly news
magazine; and lecturer at University of Indonesia, a
visiting professor at the University of Malaya, Thammasat
University and Ohio University, Athens
He holds a Doktorandus (equal to MA) in
Sociology from University of Indonesia; an MA in
International Affairs from Ohio University, Athens; and an
MA and PhD in Political Science from Ohio State University,
Columbus.
Prof. Said's visit to New Zealand is
co-sponsorized by the Indonesian Embassy and the Asian
Studies Institute (VUW), with the support of Garuda
Indonesia.
