ASEAN Free Trade and its linkage with CER

Formerly Chief Executive of Wilson & Horton Ltd, the publisher of the New Zealand Herald, since late 1998, John has taken up a number of directorships of public and private companies, and has taken an active role in Asian and Pacific trade matters. He chaired the APEC CEO Summit which took place in Auckland in 1999, in conjunction with the APEC Leaders' meeting which took place at the same time. He attended the Brunei and Shanghai APEC CEO Summits as a representative of New Zealand business. As Chairman of the ASEAN Combined Business Council, he has recently been appointed as one of two New Zealand representatives to the (ASEAN) AFTA / CER Business Council. He is involved in a number of community areas including Chairman of the South Auckland Health Foundation, and is Deputy Chairman of the Royal New Zealand Ballet.
