Hon Marie Hasler
National
Opposition's spokesperson on Immigration and
Population
Marie Hasler was MP for Titirangi from
1990-1993. She was the National Party's Woman
Vice-President from 1995-1997. She returned to
Parliament in 1996 as MP for Waitakere. Between 1996
and 1998 she was one of two Assistant Speakers of the
House of Representatives, and in 1998 became Minister
for Culture and Heritage, Associate Minister for
Accident Compensation, Associate Minister for the
Environment and Minister Responsible for Radio New
Zealand.
On returning to Parliament in November
1999 she was appointed the National Opposition's
spokesperson on Immigration, Consumer Affairs, and
the Retail and Wholesale sectors. She is a member of
the Foreign Affairs, Defence & Trade select
committee, the Regulations Review select committee
and Officers of Parliament select
committee.
