Hood Salleh was Professor of
Anthropology at the National University of Malaysia before
taking up the Chair of Malay Studies at Victoria University
in 1997. His main fields of interest are indigenous notions
of leadership and the study of environment. He studied at
the University of Western Australia for his first degree
(1970) and obtained a Bachelor of Letters (1974) and a
Doctor of Philosophy from Oxford University
(1978).
He says his work in New Zealand
can be summarised as "attempting to enhance social,
cultural and trade relations between Malaysia and New
Zealand".
